REAL CLUB DE GOLF EL PRAT TO HOST 2026 ESTRELLA DAMM CATALUNYA CHAMPIONSHIP

Barcelona, Spain – 10 September 2025 – The DP World Tour is set to return to one of Europe’s most prestigious golfing venues as Real Club de Golf El Prat is confirmed as the host of the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship, taking place from 7–10 May 2026. The event will be contested on the Club’s world-renowned Pink Course, consistently ranked among the best in Europe by leading international golf publications. It is a new event on the 2026 schedule, building excitement in the region after the announcement earlier this summer that the 2031 Ryder Cup will be staged at Camiral.
This announcement comes in conjunction with the DP World Tour publishing its full 2026 tournament schedule, revealing an exciting global calendar that will travel to world-class destinations across the globe.
Located just 30 minutes from the heart of Barcelona, Real Club de Golf El Prat is a cornerstone of Spanish golf. With roots dating back to 1912 and Royal status granted by King Alfonso XIII, the Club is steeped in history and has hosted over 250 top-level national and international tournaments, including 10 editions of the Spanish Open.

The Pink Course, designed by golfing legend Greg Norman, is celebrated for its strategic challenge, pristine condition, and aesthetic appeal. It has become a favourite among professionals and critics alike, reaffirming El Prat’s position as a premier championship venue.
The Club’s tournament legacy is underscored by a glittering roster of past champions. Severiano Ballesteros and Tom Watson are among the legends to have lifted trophies at El Prat, while stars like José María Olazábal, Sergio Garcia, Tommy Fleetwood, and local hero Pablo Larrazábal — nine-time DP World Tour winner and proud member of the Club — have all competed on its hallowed fairways.
“This is a moment of great pride for our Club,” said Pancho Schröder, President of Real Club de Golf El Prat. “Welcoming the DP World Tour once again reflects our tradition of hosting top-level tournaments and our commitment to maintaining world-class standards.”

“Hosting the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship is a true recognition of the prestige of Real Club de Golf El Prat,” added Ariana Martin Balet, General Manager. “It reaffirms our reputation as one of Europe’s leading golf clubs and provides a unique opportunity to further enhance our facilities while strengthening the legacy of our members at the very heart of the Club.”
Marcello Della Vecchia, Director of Sales & Marketing, said “We are extremely proud to host such an important event, it will once again place Real Club de Golf El Prat on the international map of professional golf, while upgrades to our iconic Pink Course will ensure an even greater experience for players, members, and visitors alike.”
Set within the picturesque 518-acre Bonvilar estate, Real Club de Golf El Prat features 36 Greg Norman-designed holes spread across the Pink and Yellow courses, complemented by state-of-the-art practice facilities, including a 300-metre driving range and elite short-game areas. Its modern, panoramic clubhouse serves as the social hub of the Club, providing a warm and elegant setting where players and guests can unwind while enjoying refreshing drinks and local culinary specialties at the restaurant.
With its rich history, championship pedigree, and commitment to excellence, Real Club de Golf El Prat is ready to deliver a landmark event for the DP World Tour, players, and fans from around the world.
