Real Club de Golf El Prat joins Barcelona Global’s Chapter Clima
The Real Club de Golf El Prat has joined the new Chapter Clima launched by Barcelona Global, an initiative that brings together more than one hundred companies and business leaders with the goal of sharing and scaling best practices to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable, liveable, competitive and resilient Greater Barcelona.
The Chapter Clima is the second working group created by Barcelona Global, following Life Sciences, and aims to encourage companies and institutions to exchange knowledge and experiences on sustainability, positioning Barcelona as an international benchmark in the fight against climate change.
Over the course of one year, the participating organisations will work within four thematic areas —Industrial Infrastructure, Mobility, Building and Construction, and Services— to improve efficiency in water and energy consumption, promote circular economy practices, and foster responsible waste management.
Commitment to the “Club Sostenible 360” model
This partnership naturally aligns with the Club’s comprehensive sustainability strategy. For years, the Real Club de Golf El Prat has championed the “Club Sostenible 360” model, which integrates environmental, social, and innovation efforts into every aspect of its operations.
A key element of this model is the Club’s wastewater treatment plant, which enables the irrigation of 60 hectares of the course with 100% regenerated water, sourced from urban and industrial wastewater in Terrassa, treated and reused exclusively for irrigation (not suitable for human or agricultural consumption).
The Club also holds the Biosphere certification, recognising its ongoing commitment to sustainability in both management and daily operations, and has recently installed a 574-panel photovoltaic roof (260 kW) to reduce its carbon footprint and advance toward energy self-sufficiency.
“We are very excited to be part of this initiative that promotes sustainability through cross-sector collaboration,” says Ariana Martín Balet, General Manager of Real Club de Golf El Prat.
The Real Club de Golf El Prat extends its special thanks to Mercè Conesa, Cristina Clotet Ollé, and Antonio Capella Elizalde for facilitating this key collaboration between institutions.
By joining this initiative, the Club reaffirms its mission to continue learning, innovating, and sharing its experience to move towards a more sustainable and responsible model within the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
