Real Club de Golf El Prat welcomes its new members at a new edition of the New Members’ Cocktail

The event brought together the Club’s newest members and the Board of Directors for an evening designed to meet, share experiences and start building connections from day one.

On Monday, 21 September, Real Club de Golf El Prat held a new edition of its New Members’ Cocktail, an event that reflects the Club’s social and welcoming spirit and aims to introduce those who have recently joined the El Prat community.

The evening brought together members of different ages and backgrounds in a relaxed atmosphere, providing a first opportunity to meet one another, network and start building connections with fellow Club members from the very beginning.

A personal welcome from the Board of Directors

The event was attended by all members of the Board of Directors, who personally welcomed the Club’s newest members.

Throughout the cocktail, each Board member gave a brief introduction, sharing their role and connection to the Club and addressing a few words to the new members. This informal and personal format gave attendees the opportunity to meet the people behind the Club’s leadership, speak with them directly and gain first-hand insight into different aspects of life at El Prat.

Beyond the introductions, the evening provided an opportunity to exchange impressions, answer questions and share experiences between long-standing and new members, reinforcing from the outset one of El Prat’s greatest strengths: its community.

A Club with strong ties to professional golf

During his speech, Real Club de Golf El Prat President Pancho Schröder reflected on the recent success of the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship, which marke

d the return of the DP World Tour to the Club and generated significant media attention.

Schröder also highlighted the outstanding sporting level currently represented at El Prat, noting that the Club has 22 professional-level players competing across the leading European and American tours. As he explained during the event, this is an exceptional figure internationally and a reflection of the Club’s long-standing connection with elite golf.

This achievement is also closely linked to El Prat’s continued commitment to developing the next generation of players.

“That is why we work so hard with our young players and our Academy,” Schröder said.

The development and sporting progression of young golfers is one of the pillars of the Club’s Academy, which is designed not only to teach golf-specific skills, but also to foster a passion for the game, instil its values and support players who wish to progress towards competitive golf.

“Great golf, great people and a very tough golf course”

The Board members’ speeches combined an institutional welcome with a warm and relaxed tone.

Among them, Ignacio Borés-Leonori addressed the new members directly with a particularly memorable welcome:

“You have made a brave decision. You won’t regret it: here you’ll find great golf, great people and a very tough golf course.”

His words brought smiles from those attending and captured much of what joining El Prat is all about: enjoying golf at the highest level while also becoming part of a community where personal relationships and social life play an essential role.

A particularly meaningful edition

This year’s gathering also had special significance, as it was Pancho Schröder’s final New Members’ Cocktail as President, ahead of the Club’s electoral process scheduled for next year.

During their speeches, members of the Board took the opportunity to publicly recognise Schröder’s work throughout his years at the helm of Real Club de Golf El Prat, particularly highlighting the management carried out to overcome a challenging financial period and contribute to the Club’s current development and stability.

The evening therefore became not only an occasion to welcome the Club’s newest members, but also an opportunity to recognise a chapter that is approaching its conclusion before a new institutional cycle begins.

Much more than sharing a round of golf

Following the speeches, the cocktail continued in a relaxed atmosphere, giving attendees the chance to talk and get to know one another. New members from different generations were able to connect, exchange contacts and share their first experiences at the Club alongside members of the Board.

Once again, the New Members’ Cocktail fulfilled one of its main purposes: to ensure that joining Real Club de Golf El Prat means much more than simply playing its courses.

Because being part of El Prat also means meeting people, building new relationships, sharing experiences and becoming part of a community with more than a century of history.
